If you remember elementary science, you will remember independent and dependent variables when doing experiments. In the Oxford dictionary, we find a variable to be defined as an “element, feature, or factor that is liable to vary or change.”

In the case of programming, the definition of variables does not change very much. They are still data items that can take on one or more values throughout the program.

Variable blocks come in two different colors; they can turn out orange representing variables or red to represent lists. These blocks are essential as values are constantly changing within a program. Imagine, for example, high scores in a game, which are variables that are constantly changing and are never permanently set.
