Death Rhyme
Beneath the buckled, brittle-boned bridge acutely and audibly anguished,
the liquid lines of longevity listlessly lingered, labored, and languished
in their powerlessness to penetrate a place where permanent peace fused
with silken serenity and soulful solace in stationary spaces seldom used.
Honeysuckle huddled inside the hushed hills of its humble hideaway,
actively avoiding the dark, deadly demons on this day of defiant decay
in which time timidly traveled within a dismally defined, deadened space
and a sickened sunflower shriveled and fatally fell onto its faded face.
Parched primrose perilously peeked at a sizzling swath of sun-scorched sky
while lilac lobelia lethally leaned against a corpse flower destined to die
beside painfully pale and panting peonies, petunias, pansies, and phlox
that suffered the same streamâs steam that stalked the hiding hollyhocks.
The disheartened dahlias dizzily drooped in a deliberate and dreary daze
as they dangerously drifted below the heinous, heat-hypnotized haze.
Cursed camellias crouched in a corner amid the thirsty thistle and thyme,
while trillium and delphinium died inside a deeply disturbing death rhyme.
Hopeless heather held hostage by the harsh, hostile, hell-soaked weather
delved into a daunting diatribe with a sweat-streaked, sun-stroked feather.
Anxious asters were agonizingly asphyxiated by Augustâs evil entourage
of historic heat waves that did the loitering landscape lethally barrage.
Inside an incandescent ingress, irises were inundated with intolerable rays
that wilted their waning whispers and wiped out their remaining days.
Gentle jasmine, joltingly jeopardized by the sinister sunâs sudden spin,
burned on the blistered battlefield in a wicked war it could never win.
Helpless heliotrope suffered strangulation by a tensely twisted rope
of unyielding English ivy exhaustingly enveloped in extinguishing hope.
Aching amaranth was agonizingly ablated by the sear of a slithering snake
that slimily serpentined its way into the boiling bowels of a languid lake.
Little lambâs ears and newborn babyâs tears harassed by the hideous heat
bawled with the blissless buttercups brought down in blatant, broiling defeat.
Temperature-tortured tuberoses were threateningly thrust into a toppling tizzy,
while delicate daisies disastrously dwindled as if they were drunk and dizzy.
Severely scalded was the wailing water writhing inside the screaming stream
that held its bemoaning breath when hunted by the hissing, homicidal steam.
The desolation was dictated by a disordered desperation that cruelly caused
death to destroy the sacred space where liquid longevity had briefly paused.
Beneath the buckled, brittle-boned bridge acutely and audibly anguished,
the liquid lines of longevity no longer lingered but vigilantly vanished.
Even the wretched, whining weeds in these wicked woods stopped breathing,
succumbing
to
the
schizophrenic
sun
shockingly
sadistic
and
senselessly
seething.
