I swear Kylo is a different breed of man. His sense of control is beyond impressive. It’s been three days since our first kiss, and as much as I wanted to have my way with him that night, and every night since, simply lying in his arms is too good to pass up as we slept in another morning. I could live this way forever and be completely content and satisfied.

It’s twenty minutes to noon as I enter Vivid, walking to the dressing room to get ready. I didn’t want to leave Kylo’s bed, but Gin will have my head if I skip my shift. Evie’s off today, and I’m glad. She needs time away from here.

Anna strolls to my side, wearing a uniform, and I smile. “Hey. You look great.”

“Thanks,” she says, dragging the hem lower on her thighs. “We’re the same size.”

My brows furrow as I take off my coat. “That’s cool, I guess.” I take out my phone to check the queue. There are no private parties scheduled, but that’s not surprising since weekdays are slower than the weekend, though I expect some to appear later this evening. “What time are you off?” I ask.

“Six.”

“Same.”

The corner of my mouth lifts as Kylo’s text appears, and I sit on a bench, giggling at the photo of Jinx inside the decorated tree.

Kylo: We lost three more ornaments. How should I get her out?

Applying a facepalm emoji, I quickly send a message back.

Me: Oh boy, try one of the cat treats.

“Is that your boyfriend?” Anna asks, and I glance at her hovering over my shoulder.

I close out the messages, place the phone inside my coat pocket, and stick it in the locker. “No.”

“Oh. That smile says otherwise. You’re glowing.”

“It’s kinda hard to explain what we are.” Heading to the uniform rack, I sift through the lot, but mine’s not here. “That’s strange.”

“Sadie, Gin needs to speak with you,” Julianne says, strolling into the room. “Anna, go take the floor.”

“She’s shadowing—”

“Not anymore.”

Anna nods, fixing her bust, then leaves the room.

“Okay. It’s been a few shifts, so I guess she’s ready to be on her own—have you seen my uniform?”

“Go talk to Gin first, sweetheart.”

I head to the bar, glancing at the upstairs office, where Jared watches the floor from the glass wall. We met briefly on Monday, and he seems nice, though Evie had a few not-so-nice words to say about him, not elaborating further, which is unusual. She tells me everything.

Gin places two drinks on a platter. “Anna, take these to table eight. You’re done shadowing.”

“Okay.” She picks up the platter and heads over.

“Sadie, you’re shadowing Petra on Voyeur clean up.”

“What? Why me?”

Placing a towel on her shoulder, Gin faces me. “Hate to break it to you, but it’s not my call anymore. Red wants to cut costs and let some of the crew go. Be happy you’re not one of them. Your new schedule is on the app.”

“I’m not working the front anymore?”

“Weekends haven’t changed. Now go. Petra’s finishing room two.
