Without hesitating, Angel walked confidently over to River,

placing a small kiss on his cheek before sitting down at his feet and

drawing his knees up to his chest to prevent his cock from being on

display. He was rewarded with a pat on the head, but River kept his

hand there as he began to lightly stroke his hair.

Damon arched a brow toward him sitting on the floor, and then to

River behind him, and finally to his own mate, Paul. Paul just smiled

and reassured his mate that everything was fine, and Angel noticed

his brother visibly relax once again into the embrace of his mate. Paul smiled down at Angel then looked up to River expectantly. Nobody

said a word for what seemed like eternity. They knew what

conversation was coming. Angel just never expected it to be so

difficult.

“So I guess you know what our mates are, River,” Paul began,

more of a statement than a question. Angel saw the nod Paul cast his

way, and he figured River must have agreed.

Another long silence came between them as nobody knew what to

say.

“Are you okay?” Damon asked Angel then River. “We couldn’t

get to you last night. I was worried,” he said, looking down at where

he clenched his hands around Paul’s wrist. It made sense that Angel’s

brother be worried about him. They had just found each other after

two hundred and ten years, while also finding their mates. It would

only be natural to keep tabs so they didn’t lose each other for another two centuries.

Damon had asked Angel if they could have dinner the previous

night, so the four of them found out what they had been doing since

coming onto this plane, which might as well have been another world

in another galaxy for all he knew. They also figured it was as good a

time as any time to get to know their new family, the pack in which

they would both be living. Of course, this hadn’t happened, and it was

quite obvious the two men had been worried about them.
