Kickoff

When the text arrives, Hammad Baig is in a deeply pleasurable zone. Kiran’s warm, moist breath is falling gently on his left shoulder. His penis feels just the right amount of sore. His back is relaxed, his arms and legs languid and serene. His neck lies softly cradled by a goose down pillow. His head swims in a fog of delight. It is late morning in London. An enjoyable day lies ahead, and beyond that greater pleasures await at nightfall.

Despite the closed curtains, thin shafts of light are making their way through. Hammad can sense sunny weather outside. He was already half-awake; the vibration from an incoming text wakes him up completely. Kiran’s angelic form lies snugly pressed into his left side. Careful not to disrupt her charming slumber, Hammad gropes for his phone with his free hand. It’s a typically saucy WhatsApp message from Raja, sent no doubt with Ghazanfar’s connivance. Hammad smiles to himself as he reads it. No response is required, at least not yet. Naughty lads, those two.

Since arriving in London two evenings ago, things have moved quickly, in fact, rather too quickly. Yesterday was spent entirely at the conference. Both Hammad and Kiran participated in the networking breakfast with experts from academia and industry, followed by faithful attendance at the morning plenaries. After a quick lunch of chicken salad sandwiches eaten while walking around the exhibit halls, they returned to the conference’s afternoon events.

Kiran decided to attend an executive forum on business leadership in healthcare; it was an intense seminar involving mock interviews and corporate role-play, which she found very educational, but also long and energy-sapping. Hammad spent his time sampling a number of scientific sessions and took in another keynote. He ran into fellow eye specialists from India, China, South Africa, and Mexico – people he had befriended over the years at other international meetings similar to this one – and caught up with them over coffee and croissants. Hammad was in his element. Professional links were strengthened. Research collaborations were discussed.

His original plan had called for participation in the official conference dinner at the end of the first day, to be followed by a trip to the zoo the next morning. He was especially pleased about the idea of a day at London Zoo – it was a fantastic tourist destination and Hammad thought it would be ideal for facilitating some happy chemistry with Kiran. He needed to make her feel relaxed and indulged if he was going to open up additional, more interesting possibilities with her.

But while seated with Kiran at the ceremonial dinner, he began to have other thoughts. Her slightly fatigued look along with subtle hints of her perfume had got him all excited. At one point they reached for a bottle of water and ended up brushing hands. The sensation left Hammad ecstatic and electrified. Why wait until the next day when he can start working on Kiran right this evening?

As the formal proceedings droned on, Hammad turned towards Kiran and told her that he found the idea of “official” dinners utterly stuffy.
