5.4 Optimal Control Results

Both the state and the adjoint system (5.3.3) and (5.3.4) were solved using the Matlab routine ode23tb. This routine uses an implicit method with backward differentiation to solve stiff differential equations. As weighting coefficients for the cost functional (5.3.1) we use (ω 1,…,ω 4)=(1, 1, 1.5, 2.5). The relevant simulation conditions and parameter values are shown in Table 5.1.
