This is something that can be viewed from many different directions. The first thing that might come to mind when you think of human intelligence is that it is general in nature. You can learn to do many different things, from mathematics to learning a new language, or visual recognition.

The second aspect of human intelligence that is important is that humans learn from experience. As we will see, this is going to be a critical aspect of machine learning. The experience that you learn from might come in different forms. You can learn by doing, or you can be guided through learning by an instructor. One way you learn is by memorizing, which is a form of experience. The key point here is that the human brain adjusts itself, basically restructuring itself, when it is exposed to new information.

In the end, whether or not you are learning how to play tennis or do calculus, everything is basically information of some kind.
