Note

The Spring ’17 release brought a valuable enhancement to the proverbial approval process table. A new setting, “Add the Submit for Approval button and Approval History related list to all Object page layouts,” was introduced. When checked, you no longer need to think about manually adding the Submit for Approval button to each page layout! Consider enabling this if you frequently use approval processes.

Invalid Submission Details

Unfortunately, Salesforce does not provide specific instructions for users who submit a record that does not meet the entry criteria. So, if a particular field needs to be set properly, the user would not be told how to do so when encountering an error. To complicate the situation, the error message applies not only to records with invalid entry criteria but also to submitters not included in the valid list of initial submitters. The vague error message you get when the program is unable to submit a record for approval is shown in Figure 6-29.
