Chapter 11: Managing PowerShell Networks

PowerShell is a flexible program when it comes to managing the network connections. Instead of working with tools that in the command line for windows. Take for example if you are trying to get the MAC address for the adapter for your current machine

Example

$strPC = “ . “

$col objects = obtain – mwi element – class

"Win32 _ adapt the network configuration."

-PC name $strPC | where ($_. IP address enabled – match “yes” }

Foreach (element in $item collection) {

Write – host “address for the PC :” $item of the object. MAC address

}

You can take your variable and put any name that you want on it so that you can access the computer that is working with PowerShell. This is going to make it easier for you to get a list of all the MAC addresses on your network.

There is also the option of getting the IP addresses that are currently active on your network through the utilization of the ping cmdlet. This cmdlet is going to roll through the IP addresses on the subnet. You will get a table returned to you that contains all the IP addresses. You will see a zero which will indicate that your address is accurate.
