Prayer for Financial Wisdom in Me

Lord, I pray that You will give me wisdom with money. Help me to be able to generate it and also spend it wisely. Teach me to give according to Your will and ways. Thank You that any charitable deed I do in secret, You will reward openly (Matthew 6:1-4). Show me when I am tempted to buy something I don’t need and will regret later. Show me what is a waste of money and what is not. Help me to avoid certain places that are traps for me, where I will be tempted to spend foolishly. Help me not to be drawn toward things that will not add to our lives.

I submit our finances to You and ask that You would reveal to me all that I should know or do. I don’t want to look back in regret, but rather to be able to look forward to a secure future. Reveal to me anything I need to see in myself that are bad habits with regard to spending. Help me to glorify You with the money I spend. I acknowledge You as the Lord who gives us the power to gain wealth, and I thank You that You give no burden with it (Deuteronomy 8:18). I know that I must not trust in uncertain riches but in You, for it is You “who gives us richly all things to enjoy” (1 Timothy 6:17). “Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear You, which You have prepared for those who trust in You” (Psalm 31:19). In Jesus’ name I pray.
