Whew! Takes your breath away, doesn’t it? And you were so apprehensive! Now you see how easy installing Linux has become, you wonder what all the fuss was about.

Go ahead. Gloat. You really do deserve it. Almost without effort, you have an amazing new Linux Box, and an outstanding Linux Mint 18.1 version, all of your own doing!

Aren’t you proud?

Take a break. Get something cool and refreshing. Perhaps even a snack. We’ll be right here waiting for your return.

Your new Linux installation is ready to be customized. As you have discovered, Linux has already installed a few applications for you. LibreOffice, for one, is an excellent replacement for Microsoft Office. LibreOffice Writer can not only can open and read Word documents, it can save documents in Word format. LibreOffice Calc replaces Excel.

As you explore the “MENU”, you’ll find an entry called “Software Manager”.

That’s the Linux equivalent of the ‘Software Store’. But here, everything is free for the asking.

One of my most useful tools in Windows is the tool called “Snippit”. Linux has a similar version called “Shutter”. You will find it in the Software Manager.

Go ahead. Install it!

You’ll like it!
