Chapter Nineteen

The week went by with more calls into the station than there had ever been. There was unrest in the town, and from what Lonnie and Jack could gather from the perpetrators, it all had to do with the election. The people loyal to Jack fighting with those that thought the town needed fresh blood in the sheriff’s chair.

Lonnie wasn’t sure he could go to Slippery Elf with Travis on their usual Thursday night, but Jack assured him that he could handle the night. Lonnie reluctantly got ready in his new place. There was all the furniture Rebel had left plus a few things he’d brought from Dennis’s house. The place already seemed like a home, but it was lonely.

Not that Lonnie was there very much. He still spent most of his time at Travis’s house but that was soon to change. Travis’s dad was due in Saturday. Lonnie hadn’t been nervous about that until Travis told him that he was going to introduce them. Lonnie could not imagine meeting the man again, only this time as his son’s boyfriend. Conway Walton was an intimidating man as it was, but to be in his face as the man having sex with his youngest son made Conway seem like he was twenty feet tall and bullet proof in Lonnie’s mind.

He finished getting ready, putting on a less than tight t-shirt and comfortable jeans. Slippery Elf was casual, and he was glad to be out of the uniform for the night. He put his hair back, smiling at the memory of Travis yanking on it while they fucked, then sighed.

The knock at the door brought him out of his thoughts and he jogged to the back door, opening it to his man. Travis looked good in his black jeans and leather coat and for the first time, his hair wasn’t shaved. Travis stepped in and kissed him quickly. “Are you ready to go?”

Lonnie couldn’t stop staring at the dark red coming up on his lover’s scalp. “It’s grown just since last night.”

A frown showed prominently on his lover’s face as he walked into the kitchen. “Yeah, yeah. Keep talking about it and I’ll shave it again.”

“No! Don’t you dare! It’s hot!”

Travis blushed, making Lonnie giggle. “Shut up! Let’s go, huh? I missed last week, and Cari Dee will have my head.” Lonnie grabbed his wallet and headed for the back door, but Travis grabbed his arm, whipping him around. “Thanks for liking it.”

Travis gave him a kiss that made him forget everything else. Strong arms holding him, warm mouth on his, it was all he could do not to call off the trip to the city and take Travis right into the bedroom.

As if reading his mind, Travis picked him up and carried him through the door with his feet dangling around Travis’s shins. “Oh, I love it when you get all caveman on me, Travy.”

He got a pop on the ass for that, but Travis smiled. “Wait until later. I’ll show you caveman.
