Chapter 8 – A Bad Girl

“Hey, Mr. P!”

John returned Madison's enthusiastic greeting with a guarded smile as he entered the kitchen to grab a glass of water. He surprisingly enjoyed doing yardwork for the first time in years after the last of his sons had left to attend college, and that's exactly what he'd planned to do before running into Madison. He let out an annoyed huff before heading for the stairs. Madison wasted little time following him up to her bedroom.

“I think so,” she replied, just a few steps behind him. “I just noticed that my fan doesn't respond whenever I try turning it on.”
