I've been so wrapped up in Jade that I almost forgot we had a reason for starting this whole game of cat and mouse. The Enclave still needs us--still needs the intel only she can help us provide, the missing puzzle piece to our foursome. And that means all of us--me, Fallon, Jade...and Hawk.

He's not going to be so easy to convince. I don't know exactly what his issue is with Jade, but he's reticent to talk to her.

I almost think he's scared of her.

Maybe because she drove both of his best friends insane.

"We need to figure this out," I say to him as we walk down the hall of the Raft. "I know this is a lot fast, but Hawk...we want you to pack up with us."

"You know you're basically asking me to have an orgy, right?" he mutters.

"It's not like that."

"It is, dude," Hawk shakes his head. "I don't...I don't feel the same way about her as you two do. And I didn't like seeing the way you both went nuts for this girl. Someone needs to keep a level head, especially if we're going to get this op finished."

I can't help but sigh. He's not entirely wrong. There's no denying that both Fallon and I are drawn to Jade in a way that's hard to explain. But it's not just physical attraction. There's something about her that's captivating, almost otherworldly.

"It's not just about that," I say, trying to choose my words carefully.

"We need her, Hawk. And you know that. She's the key to getting what we need from the ACB's intelligence wing. We can't do this without her."

Hawk's expression softens, and he rubs a hand over his face. "I know, man. I get it. But it's not going to be easy for me to be around her."

"I know," I say, placing a hand on his shoulder. "But we'll figure it out. We'll come up with a plan and we'll make it work."

Hawk nods, but I can tell he's still hesitant. I don't know how to convince him he should trust her, so I gesture up onto the deck.

"Let's go talk to her," I say. "I already sent Fallon up to get showered and changed. He smelled like ass after his night in the mess hall."

"He was in bad shape," Hawk mutters. "No thanks to you."

My shoulders lift slightly, ready to take on Hawk...but I shouldn't. "I'm going to let that slide."

"What--you gonna fight me now?" Hawk asks.

I wince. "Ouch."

We walk out into the sunlight then make our way across the deck, back toward Fallon's place. I try to ignore the itch on the back of my neck, the one that makes me jealous that Fallon is alone with her. He might be fucking her right now.

And he has a right to...because she wants him, she loves him, she belongs to both of us.

I'm going to have to get used to that.

As we approach Fallon's room, I can hear the muffled sounds of water running and the occasional creak of the bed.
