As if a monkey and a deer in the dining room weren’t unexpected enough for the salesman, he happened to walk into the kitchen later when Nicko, Nunu and the other little insiders were chasing one another around during their evening game.

‘I wondered earlier whether my wife would believe me when I arrive home tomorrow and I tell her I had lunch with a monkey and a duiker,’ he said, shaking his head in disbelief as Nicko and Nunu tussled under the table before scampering from the room. ‘She’ll definitely think I’ve gone bonkers when I say I also saw a polecat wrestle the monkey before the monkey groomed a Scottish terrier.’
