Stock up on purified water and food for a long journey. The market is a cramped nightmare, but in front of immigration there are stalls to buy goods. High-top rubber boots or wellingtons are standard equipment in these parts, perfect for jungle treks and cost US$6-9, though large sizes are rarely found. Hiking boots are not recommended as they are likely to be ruined by the mud.
