FOUR

After another round, Taryn slept peacefully in the bed East occupied the night before. He sat on the patio adjacent to the room. The phone pressed to his ear as he listened to Jackal speak.

Not only had the bishop have East sent back to prison, but the judge sentenced him to serve his time in Quantino Prison in the middle of the desert. Far enough away so that if Taryn ever got the idea to visit him, she wouldn’t be able to leave without his knowledge.

What Bishop Wilds thought he was doing to ruin East only put him into the position he was in now. Direct access to the LeFleur Mafia. He was sitting at the table with the likes of Jackal, Geo, Naji and Samaal. East was the pipeline for the southwest. No he didn’t have to touch anything, his only job was to supply the businesses to clean money and the fleet of trucks to transport cars, drugs, and guns wherever they needed to go.

“How are things?” Jackal questioned anticipating the threat.

“Quiet,” East responded. “Too quiet.”

“When are you flying back?”

“Two days. Give me a few days to get her settled and I’ll drive up to settle in,” East shared. “Security on the way?”

“They are,” Jackal said. “Don’t worry about Bishop Wilds, we’ll handle that. You take care of your woman and enjoy your reunion.”

“Indeed. Holler at you when we get back.”

They ended their call and East pulled in a deep breath. He couldn’t settle comfortably into this space with her. Because he knew Bishop Wilds wouldn’t hand his daughter over easily. He never had. East’s reemergence wouldn’t make it any different. This time he was going to be prepared. Hitters from Los Oceania and Drayton City were on the way to buffer anything Terrance Wilds called himself doing to get his daughter back under his control.

East sat outside until the third blunt was lit and the sun began to set.

“How long have you been out here?” Taryn asked as she walked out the room in his shirt. It was big enough to cover her essential parts. East could tell from the way it moved that she was bare underneath. Just the way he liked. Her hair pulled into a floppy bun, bare faced, and in his t-shirt.

She spotted the ashtray and smirked softly as she straddled his lap. Taryn hummed, taking the blunt from his finger and placed it between her lips. A deep inhale and a slow release allowing the ribbons to float through her parted lips.

“Chiefin’ like a pro,” East replied watching her do it again, this time giving him a shot gun of smoke.

“It helped on the lonely nights,” she replied softly. “I had a lot of those.”

East hated to ask but he needed to know. “Your boy wasn’t with you?”

Taryn scoffed in laughter. “I hated him. Wouldn’t allow him in my place more than twenty minutes.” She reached between them grabbing his growing manhood. “But he’s not important. None of it matters now.”

East chuckled admiring the view of her on top of him.
