Deputy Marshal Justin Blake remained inside the marshal’s office and completed a little clean up, as he waited for the arrival of the Merrell brothers. There were activities that commanded his attention, but Blake felt it only polite to be in the office when his new boss arrived, along with the other deputy. First impressions could sometimes be wrong, he reminded himself over and over again. Justin was willing to give them a chance to disprove the old saying. Hours passed without their arrival, so at the end of his day shift, and feeling some hunger pangs, Justin left to get something to eat and return to his room at Ma Richards Boarding House. He would meet them officially tomorrow morning.
