CHAPTER TEN

It’s Gunnar who finally breaks the silence, once we’re all settled around the campfire after supper. “You think it worked?”

Ben glances at me, all stretched out on a camping lounger with my feet propped up on a pillow, and then replies to Gunnar across the campfire. “Don’t know. It didn’t go quite as planned, but we had all the ingredients. Maggie took the mix well and came hard enough to line her oven, so hopefully the baking will rise.” He sighs softly, as he stares into the flames. “A lot of the stuff we needed to stay in came out when I was trying to fuck it into her, though. What if I lost it all in the process?”

“I doubt it.” Vince lifts the fertility book he’s reading. “This says there’s about six-and-a-half-million sperms in a single drop of cum, and they all have one mission.” He meets my gaze. “Maggie, even if you dripped most of it out on the ground, I’d wager you have more than a hundred-million chances still hanging in there, doing their utmost to succeed.” He raises his book again. “It also says in here that stress is the enemy, so be patient and let nature do its thing.”

I thought that maybe the guys had all been quietly avoiding us out of regret, but now I see it was a sign of support and respect, and they were giving us time alone to settle.

Ben nods at Vince’s statement, but a hint of tension refuses to leave him. I take his hand and give it a squeeze, so he’ll know we’re in this together, but I can see the uncertainty in his eyes, and I worry that he’ll hold himself wholly responsible for any failure to conceive.

His voice has none of its usual confidence when he speaks. “What if I fucked up? Lost too much and depleted our chances too far?”

“Then we’ll do it again,” Jason says without pause.

The group nods in agreement, and my cheeks flush with heat, as I take in their keen faces. “You all would do that?” I ask. “You liked what you saw?”

“Pretty sure the proof of our enjoyment is inside you right now, young lady. What was not to like?” Jason says, his face deadpan. “I’d do it again. Unless you didn’t like it?”

My cheeks burn even more fiercely, and I look at Ben, too shy to speak my truth to anyone but him. “I liked it.”

He winks at me, his eyes sparkling in the firelight.

“Apart from the weird, lumpy cock situation,” I add, as I stand and wipe my sweaty palms on the ass off my denim cut-offs. “Monsters freak me out.”

Ben scoops me into his arms. “Keep off your feet, Maggie. Hot as it is watching our cum run down your thighs, none of us wants to see that precious cargo anywhere but your sweet little cunt today.”
