Chapter Twenty

It doesn’t take us long to finish looking through the house the Irish fled from like the cowards they fucking are. I have the men pack up anything that may be of importance to us. We’ll go through everything and see if we can find anything that will help us hunt them down.

My mind is solely focused on Emilio as boxes are taken out of the house. I frown at the way he keeps looking at his hand, despite having washed off his nephew’s blood. I’m not the only one caught up in his reaction. Ignacio has been studying his fellow Boy with such care that my own possessiveness flares up. I grit my teeth against the feeling, despite wanting to pull Emilio to me and hide him away from everyone else.

“I think that’s the last of it, Padrone,” Luca says flatly as he follows a soldier down the stairs. “There’s some blood on a floor that appears to have been used as an office. It looks like they tried to clean it.”

The slump of his shoulders pulls me away from my worry of Emilio. I wonder if he’s thinking about Sebastian. There’s another possibility…one I’m not sure any of us want to think about, even if it would be easier in some ways. Fucking Emilio. I don’t want to feel this...fuck, compassion? No. There’s no fucking way. It’s bad enough I obsess over my Caro, but I won’t let him change me.

Hmm...there’s one thing that will get our minds off all of this. I grab Emilio’s arm roughly, ignoring his sharp indrawn breath, and pull him out of the house. Piling into the limo, none of us say anything. The Boys’ various expressions range from anger to defeat and fuck if I’ll let that happen.

Exiting the limo, I once again grab Emilio and drag him into the house. The tenseness I feel in him tears me in two, but I refuse to let the weakness overcome my plans. Stopping abruptly, the Boys surround me. In the silence, they bow their heads, waiting for my decision. “Ignacio and Antonio, take whoever you need. I want those boxes examined. Luca and Emilio, come with me.”

Luca and Emilio follow me up the staircase silently, right to my wing, and the moment I stop at my playroom, both of their breathing patterns change. I turn to inspect them, wanting to gauge where they are mentally. Emilio’s eyes dilate, shivering with need and starts leaning toward me. Luca...he shudders, but there’s also fear rolling off him in waves. This. This is exactly what I need. It’s also what they need too, and isn’t that a fucked-up thought?

I open the door slowly and order them to enter. Emilio strides in, almost excited to begin. Luca walks slower, his head dropping immediately into submission. Both of them stop and wait for my command, and I feel the familiar thrill at the thought of taking these two men apart. Even if it’s the same as it’s been in the past.
