After an exchange of greetings, Elizabeth became impatient.

‘Mama, we will be next door. We need to talk.’ She pushed Darcy toward the other door.

‘You go. Ask for some refreshment.’ She called after her daughter.

They sat down on a couch away from the door. Finally, Elizabeth looked at Darcy. Darcy looked at her.

‘This is the first time that it is only the two of us since uncle’s book room.’ Darcy looked at his beloved trying to figure her out. He could tell that her mind was occupied with something.

‘Yes?’

Elizabeth swallowed. ‘You have not changed your mind, have you?’

‘You do not really think I have changed my mind about us. What are you about, Elizabeth?’

‘Do you… do you remember when you said that you wished we could be back in my uncle’s book room?’

‘At the party?’ She nodded. Darcy tried to recall when he said that… and it dawned on him. He looked into her eyes. He found… adoration… and expectation. His body tensed. She wanted him to kiss her. He looked toward the other room, then back to her. He leaned in close to her ear.

‘Lilly, my sweet Lilly.’ He whispered. ‘You make me feel like the luckiest man in all of England. Your feelings are returned. Know this. I love you.’ With that, he kissed her cheek and trailed light kisses to her mouth.

She was grateful that he understood her. As soon as they were face to face at the front door, she wanted Darcy to take her into his arms. She moved her head and deftly kissed his lips. Darcy helped her by holding her head in his hand and taking over. Elizabeth was focused on his nearing lips, soft yet not yielding, on his intoxicating scent. He caressed her lips with his which made Elizabeth moan. Darcy pulled away and put his finger on her lips. She understood but felt helpless. When he kissed her so delicately, she wanted to melt in his arms. Darcy put his hands on her shoulders to steady Elizabeth and kissed her again. This time, he did not hesitate; he kissed her and taught her what he wanted from her. Elizabeth’s whole being was trembling as she tried to answer his demands. Darcy was nowhere near satisfied, but he let her pull away to take a breath. He leaned back and put his arm over his face to help him gather himself.

‘I-I will go and return with some refreshment.’ Darcy nodded taking his arm from his face.
