Chapter Seventeen

Genevieve

Arrogant. Fucking. Bastard.

The three words crowded my mind as I stared at him, locked in the look of his moss green piercing eyes as they penetrated mine. He was in full control, enjoying every moment of his deception. Should I feel honored to be allowed into the darkness of his inner sanctum? Or should I escape into the terror of being held captive?

Only that wasn’t the truth.

We’d deceived each other, pretending to be something we weren’t. I was at a loss for words, which never happened.

Except around him.

If he thought for a second that I would somehow fall for him, yearning to stay longer than the month of... servitude, he was dead wrong. However, I couldn’t ignore the fact that his offer was a once in a lifetime experience.

Or that I remained as attracted to him as I’d been locked inside his hotel room.

Almost as horrific as the ridiculous truth was that he was even more gorgeous than he’d been in the bar on that fateful night. Instead of the powerful suit, he was wearing dark jeans and an obsidian black silk shirt, unbuttoned just enough I was able to bask in his sinful beauty. His abdomen was sculpted in a way the shadowed hotel room hadn’t allowed me to enjoy.

The dense material fit tightly against his long, muscular legs and the bulge between his thighs was still able to make my mouth water. God. I was losing every ounce of my sanity if I really found this bastard gorgeous.

But I did.

Look away. Collect yourself. He’s just a man.

No, he was much more than that.

I’d have to be living under a rock not to know who he was or how powerful of a hold he had on the corporate world. He’d been quoted in several magazines over the years, his business acumen the subject of dozens of articles. Every man wanted to be him, and every woman longed to be in his bed. And that was all without the benefit of being photographed. He didn’t have a social media presence. He wasn’t the bad boy of Instagram, touting his wealth and success. There were no overt scandals, no secret babies delivered by six different women.

By all accounts both he and his successful business were well respected, on the up and up and the man even provided donations to several charities.

While there was significant information on his successes, I remembered there was almost nothing on his personal life.

Now I knew why.

“You can’t own a person,” I said, almost laughing at the ridiculousness of my words.

“The contract would beg to differ, a document that I assure you will hold up in a court of law,” Saxon stated as if he’d been challenged before. I didn’t doubt him, which made the situation that much more insufferable.

I glanced into the dark wine, my entire body trembling. There was no other recourse but to adhere to the terms of the agreement. “Tell me about the Tempest.”

“We have all the time in the world for that.
