Chapter Seven

“Are they going to be mad you brought me back here?” Timber asked.

She glanced at the doors as we walked past, no doubt wondering who slept in what room. They were all unmarked, with file baskets hanging beside each one for mail delivery.

I shook my head, pushing my door open and stepping aside to let her walk in first. Most of the crew was at work, and I had managed to convince Timber to leave her shift early enough so we could hang out in the peace and quiet of the dormitory.

“This is cozy,” she noted. “I always wondered what was behind that door.”

“After we lock up each night, it can get a bit crowded back here. We have a dinning room where we eat and out back is an enclosed garden to get some fresh air. Most of us can move about during the day, but a few prefer to still stay out of the public eye when not in character.”

I stood outside my door and watched her reaction as she looked around. There was nothing special about my room. There was a small bed, a bathroom, and a desk where I would play games late at night. Since leaving the road, I had gotten more into playing online games and building a community there. I never had to show my face and it helped me interact with people other than the carnival crew. Christopher and Shanti were also into the same thing.

“Nice setup,” she mused, looking over my computer.

“Do you play games?”

“I enjoy watching other people play games, but I am too impatient to get over the learning curve to do it myself,” she answered. “I would like to just jump in as a level 30 master wizard or something with stockpiles of gold.”

I gave a small chuckle as I kicked the door closed behind me. Timber glanced around then sat on the edge of the bed, smiling up at me as I walked closer to her.

“How long do I have to pretend to have manners before you come kiss me?” she asked.

“Seven seconds,” I told her.

The seven seconds it took me to walk the distance between us and lean over her as I pressed my mouth to hers. She pulled me onto the bed, sliding her body back so I could rest between her legs. My hands roamed beneath her shirt, grasping her breast and letting my thumb flick across her peeked nipple.

I could feel my cock already growing hard as she reached for the waistline of my pants. I sat up, breaking our kiss as I glanced to where her hand was going.

“About that,” I said slowly.

“What?” she asked.

“It is . . . It does not work entirely like a human one.”

“How so?”

“It is . . . It is hidden until I need it,” I explained.

“Well, whip it out because right now you need it,” she giggled, reaching up to kiss me again.

We undressed one another, and I took my time to gaze at her – naked and on my bed – for the first time.
