Seafood lovers and foodies won’t want to miss S Muelle 3 (Blvd. Teniente Azueta, tel. 646/174-0318, noon-6:30pm Tues. and Thurs.-Sat., US$6-10) down on the pier just north of the fish market. Don’t let the simple and unassuming interior fool you—this is some of the most sophisticated seafood coming out of Ensenada. Chef David Martinez takes fresh Ensenada seafood and gives it a kick of Baja and Asian flavors. The ceviche de la casa is a delectable mix of octopus, clams, fish, and avocado.

Popular with cruise ship passengers, Mahi Mahi (Paseo Hidalgo 33, tel. 646/178-3494, www.mahimahi.com.mx, noon-10pm daily, mains US$8-12) is a large casual restaurant in town. It is conveniently located at the end of López Mateos, the prices are reasonable, and they offer an extensive seafood menu.
