Chapter 3

The surprise visit from my parents the very next day caught me off guard. Of course they were going to come. They just couldn't leave me alone.

I was in my office at The Hucow Haven, going over some paperwork, when my assistant informed me of their arrival. My heart rate quickened, and a surge of anger washed over me. I remembered everything that happened a few days ago. I didn't think I would ever forget.

I knew this encounter would be confrontational, and I was ready for their games. I had been playing everything that happened previously several times in my mind. I was ready.

"Show them in," I instructed, straightening in my chair and steeling myself for the impending battle of words. "After all, we have to treat them just like we do with any other customer."

The door opened, and there they stood, looking every bit as polished and confident as ever. Henry, with his silver hair and piercing eyes, and Victoria, her blonde locks perfectly styled, exuded an air of calculated elegance. Her hair had already gone gray, but she died it.

"Donny, my boy," Henry began, a smirk playing on his lips, "quite the establishment you have here. Although, I must say, it lacks the sophistication and class of our Udder World."

I rose from my seat, my jaw clenching at his condescending tone. He really thought that or maybe he was thinking that my nightclub was much better than his?

"What do you want? I thought I made it clear that you're not welcome here." I paused. "And I'm not going to repeat myself."

Victoria stepped forward, her eyes glinting with amusement. "We just wanted to check in on our dear son and see how his little business venture is faring. We care about you, after all."

"Your concern is touching," I replied, my voice laced with sarcasm. "But I assure you, I don't need your patronage or your judgment. This club is thriving, despite your attempts to undermine me. And nothing about that will change."

Henry's eyebrows rose, his expression mocking. "Undermine you? Donny, we simply want to offer the city a superior experience. After all, variety is the spice of life. Don't you agree?"

I felt my anger rising, but I kept my tone even. I didn't think I was going to make the same mistake I did that day.

"Your so-called variety is just a cheap imitation of what I've built here. And your hucows will never match the quality and devotion of mine. You transform them with a machine and against their will. I convince my hucows that their lives can be better with me."

Victoria's eyes narrowed, her composure slipping slightly. No matter what I said, I knew she was going to pretend everything was fine. "Oh, Donny, still so confident. But we both know that confidence is your shield, hiding the insecurities beneath."

I took a steadying breath, recognizing their tactics. Gritting my teeth, I told myself that her words weren't going to affect me.

"Don't presume to know me. You never have.
