ORDER OF OPERATOR PRECEDENCE

Order of precedence is work just like BODMAS in mathematics. Order of operator precedence shows the particular order that Excel uses to evaluate and analyze calculations when a formula is created with many operators. For instance, Excel considers multiplication before attending to addition.

The following is the order by which Excel carries out calculations:

1) Calculates the values in parentheses

2) Calculates the range (:)

3) Calculates the intersections (Spaces)

4) Calculates Unions (,)

5) Carry out negation (-)

6) Convert percentage (%).

7) Perform exponentiation (^)

8) Carry out multiplication (*) and division (/), that are of equal precedence.

9) Carry out addition (+) and subtraction (-) that are of equal precedence.

10) Calculate text operators (&).

11) Carry out comparisons (=, <>, <=, >=).
