Let us now cash in the dividend of our approach. To begin with, we reestablish the right to speak of just one world we live in, which includes concrete objects, psychological ideas, and abstracta alike. Thus we can dispense with talk of different worlds or realms that these kinds of entities are supposed to live in, whether we find it in Frege, Husserl or Popper. It is instructive to quote Husserl again since he tries to assert himself as embracing those abstract “idealities” in the face of the powerful positivistic movement of his time, which he critically traces back to D. Hume. He writes: ... no one ventured, or had the courage to venture, to take the ideality of the formations with which logic is concerned as the characteristic of a separate, self-contained, “world” of ideal Objects and, in so doing, to come face to face with the painful question of how subjectivity can in itself bring forth, purely from sources appertaining to its own spontaneity, formations that can be rightly accounted as ideal Objects in an ideal “world”. (Husserl 1969, §100:260f.) 39
