Chapter 6

The sleep took away some fatigue but my entire body was aching and I was already out of breath.

And worse, we were going uphill now!

Sir Bein didn’t care, as usual, maintaining his stride up the hill while I suffered. Lilura, who was back in her disguise, was panting and moaning along the way but sex had invigorated her enough to keep her moving.

“Hmmm,” Sir Bein made a concerned sound and abruptly stopped.

"Why...did we stop?” I quizzed while trying to catch my breath.

“I sense... death,” he replied, his head scanning the surroundings.

His hand extended, a gauntleted finger extended towards a rocky area. I turned my head and there was something like an opening there—like a cave.

He moved to investigate the opening and I followed him with Lilura watching the back.

“I see,” Sir Bein murmured.

“See what?” I asked as I advanced and suddenly "Oh...” air escaped my mouth as I took the scene before me—little short creatures with grey skin laid on pools of their blood.

One of the creatures had deep slashes running across its chest as if it had been hacked at by a vicious blade. Another had a cracked skull, its head entirely broken like an egg with its contents spilling out. The most horrifying was a third, reduced to little more than a blackened heap of charred flesh, smoke still rising from what was left of its body.
