PART 2
Chapter One: Data Analytic Basics
The process of analyzing statistics is going to refer to when you take statistics and break it up into several different components that then will be examined in individual sets. You are going to gather raw statistics and turn it into a set of useful information that is then going to be used by you or someone else in making decisions for the company or themselves. The statistics that you use are mostly going to be collected to answer questions that will then be used to test a hypothesis or disprove a theory.
There are going to be several distinct phases that you are going to go through just to be able to work with the statistics that you have collected to get the statistics analyzed. Do not be surprised if one of the phases that we are about to discuss requires you to have to do some extra work from the previous step so that you get the appropriate statistics inquiry.
Statistics requirements
The statistics that must be placed into the inquiry program are going to depend on the requirements that are established by the person who is making decisions or the customer who is going to be receiving the product that is created thanks to the statistics that has been analyzed. Most of the statistics that are being analyzed will be collected through an innovative process such as how many people are living in that area. These variables are then broken down into individuals who fit into specific age groups, income status so on and so forth for what statistics needs to be obtained. The statistics that are collected are going to be numerical or categorical depending on what requirements are placed on the gathering of the statistics.
The gathering of statistics
Whenever you are collecting the statistics that will be used for inquiry, you need to ensure that you are following all the requirements that are set in place for the study that you are working on. You can use environmental sensors such as traffic cameras to collect statistics, or you can do it in a face to face situation, or by using an online source.
Processing statistics
Once the statistics have been collected, it must go through a process where it is organized so that it can be analyzed. A clear majority of the time you are going to be creating some sort of visual aid so that the statistics are easy to see. For example, you are going to can take the answers that you got from a smoking survey and use Excel to place each response you go to the questions that you asked into the spreadsheet so that the person who is making the decisions can see each response individually rather than having to look at a jumble of statistics that may not make much sense.
Statistics cleaning
After the statistics have been prepared and organized, you may realize that there are some errors, duplications, or incomplete statistics entries in what was collected. This is where you
