In laboratory D, the commlink crackles as Joseph stands by the door, his handgun raised, eager to get moving. He looks over at Elena who is now in an adjoining room.

‘Elena? Joseph?’ The commlink crackles again and Joseph strides over to it, swinging the microphone around. ‘Yes, we are here. One moment, Over.’

Elena wheels in a trolley containing a body covered by a cloth, setting it alongside another trolley which is similarly covered.

‘What are you doing now?’ he asks somewhat angrily as Elena swipes off the cloth revealing a body from the Ice Station, a white male with a beard. ‘It all started with these guys, whoever they are,’ she says, staring down at his dead eyes.

‘Baldwin, you there, over?’ Joseph says, turning back to the microphone. The commlink crackles and Baldwin’s voice comes through. ‘Go ahead, over.’

Joseph looks towards Elena as she pulls on a medical mask and clean surgical gloves. ‘Will be on our way shortly. Just tying up some loose ends. ETA as soon as fucking possible. Over.’

‘Roger that Joseph. Get here quick and be extra cautious. Those fuckers are pretty pissed off. Over and out.’

Joseph looks at Elena and disconnects the commlink. Getting up he walks over to her and the trolleys with their grisly contents. ‘You got 10 minutes. Then we go,’ he says matter of fact.

Elena looks up as she pulls a knife to the first body and slices through the skin, blood streaming out. Joseph moves closer as Elena cuts into the body and then looks over at the other table. Moving to it as Elena starts to open the body, Joseph pulls back the sheet. ‘El. Tell me this is not normal.’

Elena stops cutting and moves over to Joseph and the other body. The body of a black man is normally neck upwards but the rest of the body is warped and distorted. Elena looks at Joseph who is staring at the bizarre corpse. Removing her face mask, she walks over to the commlink and switches it on, selecting loading bay B from the list. ‘This is Elena. Is anyone there? Over.’ She waits and is about to ask again when there is a crackly answer. ‘Baldwin here, go ahead, over.’

‘Is Conrad there? Or Reynolds? Over,’ Elena replies and waits as the commlink crackles and hums. Suddenly Conrad answers. ‘Elena. Reynolds didn't make it, over.’

Elena pauses for a moment. She had never got along very well with Reynolds but was deeply saddened to hear this. ‘Shit. I'm sorry.’ Conrad is silent so Elena continues, ‘Conrad, where did you get these bodies from?’

Conrad answers straight away, ‘that is confidential I am afraid.’ Elena questions him, ‘confidential? What did you know? Did you know that you were bringing an infection into the facility?’

‘Elena you have to understand that we were under orders,’ Conrad replies slowly, ‘and sometimes you do not question those orders.’

‘Whose orders?’ Elena snaps back, ‘and don't say that too is confidential!’ The commlink crackles with a pause and then Conrad answers back sternly.
