Obedience has been the cornerstone of my life for as long as I can remember. And I thought that the life that came with my parents would end once I married into whatever family they deemed fit. I never imagined it would become worse. At least with my parents, I somewhat had autonomy over small things like where I went to get my nails done or how I did my hair. But now that I’ve married someone like Damien Noel, I see that my life with my parents was a luxury.

I stare at the ring on my finger in despair as I once again get ready for a “family meeting.” Family meetings are the worst. If there’s one thing Damien has shown me in our time being married, it’s that he not only runs my life but anyone else who benefits from his work. That includes his parents, my parents, and his brother. At the end of each week, he calls a meeting to gather whatever information necessary on his family’s lives and tell them what goals they need to accomplish in the next week to continue receiving support from him.

For the last six months, Damien has shown me what it means to be the perfect wife. He was right; he is a difficult man to please. He lives for the sadistic relationship we have. He enjoys every second of it, reveling in my tears and counting on my screams. He has turned me into a weaker version of myself that craves his touch, regardless of how rough it is. Unlike the men in our world, he has taken his marriage to me very seriously. It has grown into a deep obsession that I can’t keep up with. And I don’t even think he can.

I tense as the door to our bedroom opens, and Damien enters with an emotionless expression. I have yet to get used to his presence. Every time I see him, it’s like the first time. I am always anticipating whatever cruel action he has prepared for me. Now is no different as I watch his eyes glaze over the room until they fall on me. The lack of emotion slowly melts as he smiles, pleased to see me in a vulnerable state.

I quickly stand from the vanity, turning to face him. It unnerves me to have my back to him.

“Myra, don’t you look lovely,” he says softly as he continues to take me in.

“Thank you,” I murmur.

As usual, he crosses the room without another word, pulling me in for a kiss. His fingers wrap in my hair, holding the strands firm as his tongue pushes past my lips, tasting me. My heart instinctually picks up, fluttering as my body comes alive for him. He seems to sense it, placing his hand around my waist as he pulls me flush against him.

He suddenly pulls away from me, his lips finding their way onto my throat.

“I want to fuck you so badly right now,” he murmurs.
