Chapter 11

The next morning, I went by the store and after some serious searching, I finally found the map I wanted. I also picked up a box of colored push pins, paid for them and went over to Steve and Erin’s house.

When I pulled up, Alicia came running out, “Aunt Andi!” she was calling out.

After I stopped my car and got out, I picked her up and hugged her, kissing her cheek.

“Hey, sweetheart! Good morning! Did you sleep well last night?”

“I did! I had good dreams too!” she said.

“Oh? What did you dream about?”

She looked serious now, “I don’t remember, but I know they were good dreams!”

“Well, that’s all that counts then!” I said with a chuckle.

I put Alicia down and picked up the map and pins, “Shall we go hang this map and put the pins in it?” I asked her.

“Yes! Let’s do that!” she got excited.

“Okay, let’s go then.” We walked into the house.

“Aunt Andi’s here!” Alicia announced in her loudest voice.

Erin came from the kitchen, “Good morning! Would you like some coffee?” she asked.

“Absolutely, but first, Alicia and I have a task to perform,” I looked at Alicia, “don’t we?”

“Yes, we do!” she answered and tugged my hand towards the wall where we were going to hang the map.

“Okay, let’s go!”

All four of us went to the wall and with the help of Erin and Steve, I hung the map straight.

“Let’s put the pins in!” Alicia cried out.

“We will, sweetheart. Let me get the box opened,” I said.

After I cut the seal on the box, I took out a pin and handed it to Alicia.

“Now, be careful with this because this end is very sharp!” I said, pointing to the end with the pin in it.

“I will,” she said, “where does this go?”

I pointed to Memphis and said, “Okay, put one here because that’s where I start from.”

With some effort, Alicia got the pin pushed into the map.

“Don’t forget Cicero, Andi! That’s really where you started from!” Steve laughed.

Erin and I joined in, “True, Steve!”

I showed Alicia where Cicero, Indiana was, and she put a pin in there as well. After showing her where I had been, and her putting the pins into the map, we stepped back and looked at it.

“Wow, Aunt Andi! You have been a lot of places!” Alicia said.

“And that’s only with my new job! This doesn’t include all the places I have been with my old job! There would be a lot more pins up there if we did those as well!” I said.

“Should we do those as well, Andi?” Erin asked.

I thought about it and decided not to. “No, let’s keep it just the FedEx runs.”

“Okay,” she said.

Once we finished with the map, we all sat down for breakfast and I had some coffee, finally!

“This is some excellent coffee, Erin!” I said.

“I’m glad you like it. I bet you’ve had some different ones in the places you’ve been!” she said.
