Anger instantly explodes behind my eyes. Its powerful red hues are all I could see. Blood pumps so quickly throughout my body I actually think the rage will explode out of me. How much can one girl take? Kimmyâs chances of coming back are now completely caput and an innocent boy died trying to help her and he should never have been in that stupid warehouse anyway.
Too much. Itâs too much to handle. I canât control myself. The anger seeps into my pores and takes over everything. It melts every thought together as if being whipped in a mixing boul.
The dreary hospital in front of me is gone. Everything has vanished. I can feel the usual flutters of power zinging through me. At first, I think I am visiting the island again, but the island never shows. Instead, I find myself on a busy street downtown. People walk past me as if they donât even see me. Of course, they donât. This is another vision; it must be. And thatâs when I spot her.
Crystal is walking down the street and all I can think about is that if thereâs anyone who deserves my wrath, itâs her.
I wish I could hurt her the way sheâs hurt me. I just want to get even for all the things sheâs done to my friends and family. Thatâs not asking too much.
She looks over in my direction and finds me watching her. She says, âI didnât think youâd show.â
Thatâs when I look down and see that Iâm still wearing the clothes Iâd warn to the warehouse. I feel for my fatherâs necklace; the cool metal is at my neck, where it always is.
I can teleport, now? Since when?
Wait, Crystal is right in front of me. I can take her out. A deep, black anger pushes shock out of the way. Who cares when or why? Then all the strangers just disappear like mirages, leaving me with only Crystal, standing under the moonlight with her perfect outfit and her perfect hair. Not that I want to be alone with her, but at least no one can get caught in the middle of our fight.
And thereâs about to be one. She needs to pay.
She looks around, confused, and sees everyone has disappeared, then turns back to me watching her. She can probably see how angry I am. Her expression turns to panic. Yeah, probably because sheâs not hiding behind her little puppets. Her flight or fight response is clearly more weighted toward cowardly⦠or this is another trap. How can I fight it in my fit of rage? Noah is dead and so is my best friend. Save your father! Save your father! I try to tell myself.
âSo, I take it from your expression youâre not going to help me,â she says.
I scoff back in answer. I canât speak; the anger has taken over every inch of my being.
The dark skies are occasionally lit by a stroke of lightning and the streets are well lit by thin lampposts.
