A day later, Kristin was grateful to Nicole for attempting dragging her out of her funk. They had tried everything from meditation to yoga to exercises to standing on their head focusing on a single body part.

None of it had helped and her gratitude did nothing to allay her sense of inadequacy. No matter what she did, her stupid, ugly tail remained. Nicole did everything she could to help but Kristin just couldn’t get over it. The other woman had picked up rudimental changes, such as to her coloration quickly, and then moved on to changing specific features. Now she could also change her height and weight and was good enough to actually make her bodies look like whole new people. Assuming that something didn’t go spastically wrong along the way.

Kristin on the other hand had barely learned to transition at will between her two forms and shoot beams of energy from her tail when she wanted. It was pathetic and useless. She had no doubt she could kick some major ass but what about the rest of her life? Her “super powers” had utterly destroyed her and turned her into a shut in.

It didn’t help that every time they thought they’d mastered their new abilities they acted up. Fortunately the Pocket kept them from damaging anything or alerting the neighbors that something was up and Lady Jellyfish was there to help bring them back under control.

They also discovered that shapeshifting made them ravenous. Nicole quickly blew all her money running to the store grabbing them food. “I think I’m going to need to use my bodies to get more work,” she said. “I mean, it makes sense. I can put myself into all kinds of trades simultaneously if I do this right. Ha, I could be a one woman accounting firm. Or I guess, do just about anything.”

Kristin smiled at her sadly. She missed work. How long could she float without actually being able to show herself? Not long.

“Hey,” Nicole said. “I’ve got an idea. Give me your wallet.”

An hour later one of Nicole’s bodies returned, laden down with Thai food, and looking exactly like Kristin. Or rather, exactly how Kristin used to look. Nicole had left one of her bodies with Kristin while the other had gone out shaped and dressed like her to pick up food and groceries. Being able to talk with Kristin and instantaneously know not only what she said but what she thought had helped her pull off an impression that had fooled the few people she’d run into who knew her.

“Okay, so I heard way more about your tits and ass than I ever wanted to,” Nicole said with Kristin’s face and voice—the latter had easily been the trickiest to get right—as they sat down to eat. “Actually, who the hell am I kidding? I love your tits and ass. Can I keep them?”

Kristin rolled her eyes. Nicole didn’t seem willing to believe she had no interest in girls.

“Not even a little?” Nicole prodded and Kristin rolled her eyes again, then stopped.
