â
Asyut, who had delivered the saint to her room, straightened his posture directly and walked quickly down the corridor.
The place he arrived at was the waiting room of the vice-captain of the Order of Holy Knights. Iâm coming in, he said and opened the door in a familiar movement. Inside, not suiting the ceremonious and imposing interior design of the room, was Siegcrest who was sprawled out languidly on a sofa and polishing his sword listlessly.
âOh hey, Asyut. That was fast.â
Siegcrest responded lightly in a voice that didnât sound energetic at all. He only looked over at Asyut and grinned.
âI thought you would cross-examine Celia on a ton of things. But you really came to me to hear everything, huh?â
âYouâre the one who said you heard everything.â
âThatâs true but itâs certainly quicker to ask the person themself if you want to hear everythingâ¦â¦ is what I thought youâd conclude.â
ââ¦â¦Iâm bad at talking alone with Lady Celiastina.â
As if feeling sulky at having spoken his true thoughts, Asyut sunk down into the opposite sofa.
âWell, the talk wasnât that important anyway. It was just like I said. Celia took responsibility and went to Aeneas by herself to apologize. She was probably going to use that opportunity to go and apologize to the other person, that guy Neisan who was also harmed together with Aeneas. She also said that she wanted to return them to the position of being squires.â
Asyut kept silent and listened to Siegcrestâs story. It was quite rare to see Asyut relaxing with his legs crossed but for Siegcrest it wasnât that particularly unusual. More importantly, there was a little feeling of discomfort mixed in the profile of the young First Holy Knight, and so Siegcrest left his sword and raised the upper half of his body.
âWhat, you look like you want to say something.â
ââ¦â¦No.â
âItâs not like itâs bad, right? What Celia did. Itâs just that youâre always getting mad, so itâs hard to talk about small things.â
âI know that. âItâs true that what Lady Celiastina did wasnât bad.â
But that was why he couldnât understand it, Asyutâs words were stuck.
âHuh? What?â
âToday, just a while ago, was the first time you met Lady Celiastina, right?â
âWell, yeah, but what about that?â
ââThatâ Lady Celiastina is different from usual.â
âMeaning?â
âIf she was her usual self then sheâd be the person of the rumors on the streets.â
âCapricious, cold-blooded, cruel, and uncontrollably selfish.â
âYes.â
âItâs like a story of a wicked witch.â
âYes. And thatâs why I arranged it so that you and Lady Celiastina wouldnât meet directly. Because, without a doubt, you would have enraged Lady Celiastina.â
âHmm, I see, so thatâs why I, as the vice-captain of the Order of Holy Knights, never met the saint until now. âBut, actually having met her, isnât she just a cute young lady?â
âThatâs why Iâm saying itâs strange.â
Although she lost her memory, could someone change that much? Asyut wondered without saying anything. She told him that she wanted to make everyone involved with her happy. And she was actually starting to act for that sake.
