Chapter Nine

I stood there frozen.

‘I am a Prince,’ Parish had said.

While I looked at him, trying to digest what he had just said, I then heard the door to the jail cells room open and saw Jason re-enter. He looked at me briefly before unlocking Parish’s cell.

What?! Why was Parish being let out? I frantically thought.

Jason stepped close to Parish and mumbled, “I hope you’re ready.” Then they both walked out of the room while the door to the room closed with a loud echo.

I had stood frozen while following them out with my eyes. Turning my attention back to the empty cell, I then snapped my head back to the main door area. “Hey! What about me?” I hollered with building tears.

Walking along the wall of the cell to my door, I felt lost. You can’t just say you’re a Prince and then walk away.

Was it because he was a Prince that he’d been freed? Or was it that he was a cop—he’d only said he’d made a deal... Or was that because he’d said he was undercover... I was completely confused.

Holding the bars within my hands, I hollered, “This isn’t fair!”

Damn I was mad.

We finally got to speak and the damn cop takes Parish away!

While I stood by the bars, I thought back to some of his confessions. It was good to hear Parish admit that he was tired of partying. Perhaps he would enjoy flying around with Miss Moretti.

I looked off to the wall that held the clock and it was nearing quarter after one. I smiled to myself. It was one fifteen when Parish first laid eyes on me. No matter where I was when I saw that time, I always felt blessed. He was the best thing in my life. Dropping my hands from the bars, I walked back to the cot.

However when I was about to sit down, Jason came back into the room. He came to the door and unlocked it. Then opening the door, he peered at me with speculating eyes. “Try not to hit him again.”

I walked over to the cell entrance, and casually glanced at Jason’s change of clothes. Why’d he change? He was no longer wearing his cop uniform but now wearing slacks and a matching dress shirt. Then with suspicious eyes, I walked past him. “Will do.”

Jason then led us out of the prison room, and into another main area. When he stopped I waited till he was done locking up. After he walked me to a waiting room before pointing and saying, “The washroom is over there.”

When he left my side, I looked around and it was quiet. I did not see or hear anyone else. Shaking the feeling out of me, I went into the washroom. In there I did what was needed before touching up my make-up. I would go home and hopefully when Parish showed, we could finish our conversation.

Leaving the washroom, I noticed the main light off in the waiting room. There were now white Christmas lights lit.
