Chapter Three

S ynn was not your average bar, in fact the term “bar” didn’t fit it at all. Synn was a club, a very specialized club known only to members and a select number of additional guests. Lexi kept a close watch on Zach’s reaction as they walked through the large mahogany doors and into the lobby. To his credit, he hid his surprise and awkwardness well.

His eyes went wide for only a moment as he took in the suede couches, partially naked guests and barrage of leather, lace and leashes.

“Welcome to Synn. Soak in the debauchery, I want a drink and then I plan on grinding you into submission out on the dance floor. You can dance, right?”

She didn’t wait for an answer, heading for the bar and hearing Sam try to tell Zach he’d get used to it and not to worry. Ordering a round of shots, Lexi waived the two of them over, happy to see both responding without question. They slammed the shot and Lexi quickly shed her cropped leather jacket and pulled the two of them towards the far side of the room.

Over the next hour the two women ground, used and teased Zach on the dance floor with practiced precision. Despite nearly taking out at least three other people in the immediate vicinity and showing the grace of a drunken elephant, Zach’s stamina was impressive. Deciding that the two of them had him sufficiently prepared, Lexi gave Sam a knowing nod and they pulled him off the dance floor towards the back of the club. Stopping at an entry blocked by a red velvet rope and large man in jeans and a dark dress shirt, Lexi could see the hesitation in Zach’s eyes.

Lexi smiled up at the bouncer, “Hey Billy, D3 open?”

“Jillian just finished resetting it. Do you want the hour?”

With a quick glance at an excited Samantha and a confused Zach, she nodded. “I think that should do for tonight. We don’t want to break him.”

“I heard you like to break them?” he responded, opening the velvet rope for them to pass through.

Lexi gave him a wink and headed down the hall. Sam grabbed Zach’s arm ushering him through the doorway with a reassuring glance.

Despite the air of confidence, Lexi’s nerves were pushing through. Bringing someone new to Synn was not something she did often. She hadn’t even brought Dillon, though she had been considering it before he called things off. Taking that same someone to the dungeons on their first night was pretty much unheard of, but there was something about him, something she needed to explore. She knew this could just as easily be an ending as a beginning and that thought started to bring back the emotional issues that had continued to plague her. Yet, even with all the fears and uncertainty, something within her felt this was right. Something told her, it was worth baring herself, no matter what that brought forth.

“Red, yellow and green,” whispered Sam as she ushered Zach through the corridor.
