Loving God, give me the grace and courage to extend compassion toward your creation as you do.

Fourth Week of Lent

Fourth Sunday of Lent

Compassion in Action

In a way, God had to show us how to become compassionate human beings by becoming one of us. In Jesus, God showed us compassion, and we have no excuse for not imitating Jesus in this. We can do it because God creates us for this role, gives us the Spirit to move our hearts and minds to such compassion, and gives us Jesus to show us the way: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). The future of our world depends on our willingness to live as the human beings God has created us to be—allowing our hearts to be touched by the plight of our fellow humans and taking action for the sake of the other.
