There are many types of conflict resolution training programs. We highly recommend that you select courses integrating the win-win negotiations material from Fisher and Uryâs book Getting to Yes for all the reasons discussed in Chapter 2, but also because, in our experience, it is easy to convince executives to enroll in a negotiation program because what they learn can be useful in many other contexts.45
HOLD REGULAR OKR-TYPE OBJECTIVE-SHARING SESSIONS
This is one of the recommendations that we made earlier to promote vertical alignment. We bring this one back as well because OKR-type systems also serve horizontal alignment by obliging LT members to share their objectives on a regular basis, which inevitably surfaces coordination issues. For example, in one organization we worked with, an OKR session brought to the surface that the chief marketing officer was targeting a client segment that all business unit heads had dropped and provoked a much-needed discussion on the strategic importance of that segment.
