They opened the door, but, instead of their mother, the wicked wolf entered. The kids, panic-stricken, wanted to hide. But the wolf found the two smallest and devoured them. Fortunately, he didn’t find the third, who had hidden in a large pot. Satisfied anyway, the wolf rubbed his stomach.

“I am no longer as hungry as I was when I got here,” he sighed. And he left the house.

Peu de temps après, la maman chèvre revint à la maison et vit la porte ouverte. Elle chercha ses petits, mais en vain. Désespérée, elle les appela un par un.

Quand le petit chevreau entendit sa maman, il sortit en pleurant :

— Je suis ici, maman, dans la marmite!

Il raconta que le loup était venu et qu’il avait mangé ses deux petits frères.
