Chapter Eleven

“Your key? What is that? I do not know what you are talking about,” Mitch quickly responds as I force myself to stand up, my legs are shaking and for the first time in my life, I do not know what to say or do at all. I quickly glance at Jake and he meets my gaze, I am begging him to keep his mouth shut and after only a second he gives me the slightest nod as though he knows what I am thinking.

“Don't lie to me Michael, it is not very angelic of you to do so,” Lilith smiles then looks around to the other demons with her. There are 5 of them, all of who are different to the ones I saw in the prison, from this distance I cannot tell if any of them are armed but I will hazard a guess that they are concealed somewhere. “Why don't we put our past behind us and move forward, Michael. We can start when you hand over the human?”

“I don't think that is going to happen,” Mitch responds and for a moment I am actually surprised with how strong he seems in front of her. “I am not going to be forced in to doing anything by you, especially when you ally yourself with demons.” Lilith laughs at his words.

“You are one to talk,” she says then glances at me again. But I can't do anything but shake, no words leave my mouth and in this very moment I know I have never felt so unsure of myself. “Who are you, sweet girl?” Lilith asks me and for a second I do consider just blurting it out, telling her that I am her daughter but if I do that, then I will be jeopardising the life of Jake and as much as I hate my father, he is still my blood, and I guess he did try to protect the human world. Holy fuck, I am so confused by everything, I don't know what to do for the best. “You are someone who I feel is very powerful, I don't know who you are and I wonder how I ever let someone like you pass me by. I know that you know who I am, you told me so in the prison, you know I could offer you a very substantial reward if you hand over the human to me and join my army. There is not a soul that exists that could stand against me, so make the right choice and maybe you won't die.” My breathing shakes as I take in her words, then I go to reply but nothing leaves my mouth, I have never experienced these feelings of paralysing fear or being so utterly lost before, so after a few seconds of her waiting for my response, I just shake my head and refuse to accept her proposal. Am I afraid? Am I terrified that she will actually kill me? All these
