If you take a more aggressive approach and land in the heart of a point of interest, like Tilted Towers, Paradise Palms, or Lazy Links, you will definitely encounter enemies, often within the first few seconds after landing. Initially, you’ll only be armed with a pickaxe, which is no match for any type of gun or explosive.

Landing Strategy #2—Land Close to a Popular Point of Interest

A slightly more aggressive landing option is to land just outside of a popular point of interest. In these areas, you’ll find weapons, ammo, loot items, and resources, but probably won’t encounter too many enemies immediately upon landing. This gives you a small window during which you’re able to build up your arsenal and prepare for battle.

Once your soldier is armed, then head into a popular point of interest, where the combat action will likely start within moments of your arrival.

By waiting even a few minutes before entering a popular location, the enemy soldiers who got there first will fight amongst themselves. A few will survive, but many will die. By the time you get there, fewer enemy threats will be in the area, but those who are there, will be skilled fighters.
