1. Serial, continuous intravenous infusions can rarely cause raised liver enzymes, which return to normal levels on discontinuation of the ketamine. No elevation of liver enzymes has been reported from the use of single infusions.

2. These infusions also can occasionally cause bladder symptoms, which again are short-lived.

3. There are no reports from patients treated with these infusions of long-term problems with concentration or memory, nor is there evidence of abuse or addiction occurring despite some having multiple treatments over many years.

4. Sublingual ketamine given daily for up to 18 years for pain conditions has not been associated with worrying side effects, nor have there been reports indicating tolerance, dependence, or addiction in this group.
