Child Labor
Federal and state laws regulate child labor. Employment standards for minors are established by state law (149, §§ 60-73) and federal law (29 U.S.C. 212 and CFR Part 570). In situations where both state and federal laws apply, the stricter standard must be followed.
State child labor laws are enforced by the Office of the Attorney General, Fair Labor and Business Practices Division.1 The Boston office can be reached at 617-727-3465; the Springfield office at 413-784-1128.
