Content Plug-ins

Content plug-ins are those that directly affect your articles. These are probably the plug-ins that you will use most often.

Let’s see the default content plug-ins. To do that, click on the Select Type drop-down in the top-right and choose Content. You’ll see seven plug-ins as in Figure 9.5.

Here’s what those seven content plug-ins do:

• Joomla. This plug-in performs some maintenance tasks for your articles, such as e-mailing you if a new one is added.

• Load Modules. This plug-in allows you to place modules inside your articles. Why would you want do this? Let’s take the example of the search box. We can place that inside an article to make it easy for people to find. Here’s how we do it:

1. Go the Article Manager and open the Welcome to Joomlaville article.

2. Enter a heading and some intro text to explain what the search box is for. For example, you could write: “Looking for Something Specific in Joomlaville” as a heading.

3. Place this into your article after the end of the text: {loadposition top}. That will load all the modules that are currently in the top position. Your article should look like Figure 9.6.
