Naoki, God of Whispering Winds

It has been months since the winds brought me the faint whispers of ill tidings. Whispers from the north tell of one of my brethren falling. Yet, silence has been the only sound from the north since then. No notes of a calamity befalling the realm, no hero rising from the mortals, and not a hint of Osormr descending.

It has only been a few months, but something should have started moving. Falling is a slow and steady progress but we cannot put it off for longer than a few years at best. Someone should have started moving by now. What is that Titan thinking?

These are very strange tidings. It may be possible that something is moving without me noticing. However, this could only be possible if they were as powerful as me and acting under heavy secrecy. That or they were moving at an impossibly fast speed which exceeds my winds.

No, that is beyond impossible. Nothing can move faster than my winds. The very idea is pure fantasy.

No no, I need to focus on the possible. Something should have started by now. That I have heard not a whisper. The only idea I can fathom is that the fallen one is suppressing their corruption via pure will power. An honorable feat to be sure but that should only add a few years before they collapse. Years they would spend in unfathomable agony.

They would be sacrificing themselves to contain the corruption. Using all of their divinity to suppress the infection until their inevitable end. If they are truly willing to die. This act would prevent the one that dwells beneath from gaining a foothold on the surface. Unfortunately, it will also end in catastrophe for the infected and those surrounding them.

Depending on the god, the explosion from this act could affect the entire world…

Perhaps it is time that I take a more active role? If I mobilize all the Zephyrus, no secret could be kept from me. However, if I increase my authority, which is already spread over the whole of the world via my trade routes. I will cease to be merely the Lord of the Whispering Winds. Do I wish to enter the path of becoming a greater god?

No, I’m perfectly balanced currently. Taking on too much is how idiots fail. Follow the beaten path. Stamp out anomalies before they become problems. That is how my city has prospered, but still? I need to do something.

“My Zephyrus, my lovely brides, my winds. I need you all to complete an active collection. Race down every one of my trade routes using all of your speed. Gather every story, no matter how small, and return them to me. I need the most accurate picture of the world to make my next decision. The first to return will be rewarded as my next.” I whispered to the winds.

My words traveled to all of my priestesses, both mortal and divine. Those within my mansion and those working within my city.
