Chapter 16
It suddenly gets a lot cooler, and I whimper, not liking the change in temperature. I pry my eyes open to see whatâs happening and come face to face with a pair of boxers that clearly belong to quite a large man. I turn my head up and find Raven looking down at me with a smirk.
âCold,â I mumble, and this just makes his smirk turn into a full-on smile.
âIâm just going to get the coffee going, Iâm sure Ash would love if you cuddled up to him until itâs ready,â he says softly.
âYes, he would,â Ash says, rolling over to face me. âCome here, sweet girl.â
He wraps his arms around me as I turn to face him and wiggle closer, trying to get as much of his warmth as I can. I hear Raven chuckle behind me and the sound of his receding footsteps.
âIâm being clingy,â I say into Ashâs chest, which is beautifully bare at the moment. The guys mustâve shed their clothing throughout the night - Iâm sure it was hot with the three of us in one bed. âBut youâre just so warm.â
I donât think Iâve ever slept with someone like I did with Raven and Ash last night, like actually slept in the same bed cuddled up to another person⦠well in this case, two other people. I could definitely get used to this, and thatâs a bit unnerving, seeing as I donât exactly know where I stand with them.
My anxiety starts to creep to the front of my brain, making me feel a bit awkward about being pressed up to Ash right now. Then I start to think about what we did in the car, and me crying in the elevator, and how they helped me get changed for bed. Iâm getting overwhelmed. Pushing away from Ashâs chest, my mind starts to go at warp speed.
I donât regret what we did in the car, like not even in the slightest, but I canât help but picking my actions apart. Could they see every dip and crease in my body when I was bent over Ash? Do they think Iâm unstable because I cried when I realized I scratched Ash? Was I being annoying when I asked Raven and Ash to stay with me and practically used them as blankets?
âHey, what happened, where did you go?â Ash asks as worry furrows at his brow.
âYeah, uh, Iâm good, just thinking,â I respond, blinking the last remnants of sleep from my eyes.
âWhat about?â he prods.
I chew my lip as I contemplate my response. Iâve never opened up about these types of thoughts to anyone other than my therapist.
âYou can talk to me, sweet girl, I would never judge.â
âI know you wouldnât,â I say, sending a small smile in his direction. âItâs just, well, I guess itâs hard to describe.â
I take a breath, choosing my words carefully, and Ash just patiently waits.
âI was diagnosed with generalized anxiety and social anxiety when I was a young child,â I start, the words feeling sticky on my tongue.
