4.1 Example of Linearly Separable Decision: To Issue a Credit Card or Not

Consider a scenario where a bank has to make a binary decision whether a credit card can be issued to a person or not. Depending on the age of the person and income of the person, the bank decides to issue the credit card to the applicant. This is considered as a classical ‘to be or not to be’ type of problem. Since the problem is linear in nature, a single perceptron would solve the task. The decision is made using the above mentioned two parameters, Income and Age of the person. Figure 4.1 demonstrates the design of the artificial neural network made up using a single neuron called Perceptron.
