WHEN I’M sad I always think: and the saddest

is yet to come…Then, besides being sad,

I’m scared too.

do I do that?

When I’m happy I never think:

and the happiest is yet to come…

When I’m happy, I’m always just happy.

All it takes is for a girl to smile at me

and I’m there.

The saddest doesn’t exist: that’s what I should think!

And the happiest does.

I wish

I had a wand with a mysterious, retroactive power

I could use on people I hated.

After I’d touched them, they wouldn’t exist anymore.

Nobody had ever heard of them.

They had never existed.

I wouldn’t hate them anymore. Because how

can you hate somebody who has never existed?

But still, I think I’d have a feeling that something

was wrong. Without being able to work out what it was.

Maybe it’s a leftover from a forgotten hatred of somebody

I touched with my wand.

Like the hull of a ship that got hit by a torpedo

and sank to the bottom of the ocean.

I don’t know.
