“Oh dear,” Lander sighed. “That’s where I hit you over

the head. There was blood on the carpet. I’m surprised the

policemen didn’t see the blood in your hair!”

James smiled, gently rubbing the back of his head.

“First of all, it was dark and dark blood in dark hair is not all

that visible. Secondly, I was rather scantily dressed as you

may recall. I do not think either of the policemen dared to

take a good look at me.”

“I noticed your lack of clothing and I didn’t dare to look

either,” Lander recalled.

“But you wanted to, did you not?” James asked quietly.

“Yes,” Lander answered without hesitation. To prove his

words, he looked at James’s submerged body. Most of it was

covered in lather from the bubbles he’d added to the water to

preserve James’s modesty, but he overcame his shyness to

look at the rest. James saw this and moved his hand—with

Lander’s enveloped in it—to his chest and rested it there.

Lander unfolded his hand and caressed James’s beautifully

defined pecs, playing with the few sprinkles of chest hair

growing on it and carelessly brushing over a nipple.

“Good Lord, Lander, the things you do to a man.”

Lander didn’t dare look lower than James’s chest. He

knew James had covered himself with a washcloth, but the

way he was languidly lying in the water betrayed how much

he was enjoying the small touches. “If you get out of the tub,

I can show you what else I can do to a man.”

James opened his eyes and looked straight at Lander.

Lander couldn’t tell whether he’d just shocked his friend or

whether he was simply a little taken aback by the blatant
